Origin

For an eight hour Game Jam, we had to choose two out of three words that we wanted to base our game on: Immortality, Cliffhanger, and Reverse. I partnered with my twin brother for the first time and devised a space shooter in which you "shot space". After much designing on both our parts, we got to work on our game with immortal bullets that reversed on collision.

Reflection

Qualdrin is a simple game that derives a lot of enjoyment from the player challenging themselves. For instance, some players like to push their luck by firing plenty of bullets that could lead to a lot of points or their demise. Plus, a simple high score table successfully got players to try the game again and again. This homage to arcade shooters also won "Best Arcade Game" at the competition.
