The original logo for Duel Major was cool at first, but then "at first" ended pretty soon after. So for the course of a year, I've been sketching a number of different logos for Duel Major. Most of these loose pieces of paper and napkins are either in the trash or bouncing along like tumbleweed.
But just two weeks ago I had a burst of inspiration; they always seem to come when I'm diligently working on something else. Fleshing out this idea in Illustrator led to me meshing around with some effects and led to something completely different.

Even though this was a rough concept, I wasn't too thrilled about the two graduate-boxers on top. I thought about animating the two pacing back-and-forth. Then I thought about doing it in 3D because I felt too lazy to do it in 2D. (It took me a while to realize how dumb that last point sounded.) Which led to me thinking about doing everything 3D and, well, I'll let you see where my thought process led me. The end result is a new potential title and character select screen for the game!
You might want to pause at the very beginning and end, the title and character select screens respectively. The two boxers reminded me of Duel Major's current character select screen and the fact that the logo was a 3D boxing ring made me think of this sick transition (if I do say so myself). And don't worry, I'll make space for the Options
The character select screen would function such that players select their character from the jumbrotron in the center. When your cursor is over a character, your respective banner and the model underneath are changed to that character. Actually selecting the character causes him/her to do a little animation and play one of their voice clips. I'm also toying around with the idea of the characters randomly performing attacks before they're selected so players can get a sneak peek of their moveset.
Considering this was all done in Maya, the plan would be to polish these assets, bring them into Unity, and animate them there.
